By Gossips Tv (New Delhi) : The Bombay High Court has firmly rejected a complaint filed against Zee TV’s new serial Tum Se Tum Tak, advising the complainant to simply avoid watching the show if he disliked its content. The case involved a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Mahendra Sanjay Sharma – initially identified as Sunil Sharma who alleged that the storyline, which depicts a romance between a 46-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl, was offensive and hurt public sentiments.
Hearing Zee TV’s petition to quash the FIR, the court found the complaint frivolous, noting the plot did not incite communal tension or warrant legal action. Citing a prior ruling, the bench reiterated: “If you do not like a movie or a show, don’t watch it. Should we switch off the TV entirely?”
The judges also expressed concern over Sharma’s inconsistent identity, highlighting discrepancies between his stated name and official documents like Aadhaar and PAN cards. Calling his actions “vexatious” and “mischief,” the court proposed that Sharma perform a month of community service – such as cleaning at JJ Hospital to deter similar conduct, warning he must personally fulfill the task without sending a proxy.
Additionally, the court criticised the Cyber Cell’s nodal officer for failing to verify Sharma’s identity before filing the FIR, terming the lapse “stupidity” and recommending disciplinary action. The matter has been reserved for a final order.
