On August 14, JTBC Entertainment News reported that actor Heo Nam Jun has recently received an offer to star in the upcoming drama “Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid” and is currently discussing the details for the same.
In response to the report, his agency H.SOLID confirmed that Heo Nam Jun has indeed been offered a role in the upcoming drama “Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid” and is currently reviewing it.
Based on a webtoon that reimagines Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” the upcoming drama “Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid” is set in 1926 Gyeongseong (present-day Seoul) during Japanese occupation and follows the story of Kang Ui Hyeon, a man who dedicates everything to his country, and Su A, a woman who risks her life to protect him.
Earlier, Choi Woo Shik and Mun Ka Young were reported to be in talks to play the leads Kang Ui Hyeon, an independence activist, and Su A, a servant in a pro-Japanese family, respectively. However there has been no official confirmation of the cast as yet.
Heo Nam Jun has reportedly been offered the role of Song Hae Su, an independence activist from Primorsky Krai who holds an unwavering belief in the independence movement after losing his family. Cold-headed and highly responsible, he becomes entangled with the protagonists Su A and Kang Ui Hyeon, leading to significant changes in his life.
Heo Nam Jun is currently starring in JTBC’s upcoming weekend drama “A Hundred Memories,” set to be premiering on September 13.
