By Anil Merani| After succeeding as an actor, Vijayendra Kumeria has become a producer with a Doordarshan show, Jahan Chaand Rehta Hai. He is also impressing one and all with his performance in Star Plus show Teri Meri Doriyaan. His other known shows have been Udaan, Tumhari Paakhi, Shastri Sisters, Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, among several others
We caught up with Vijayendra for a quick interview read on.
What made you turn producer?
Anything to do with this industry and, which is lucrative, I am open to it. Apart from being an actor, I do have creative & business sense. I want to grow, so I need to explore new opportunities.
As a producer, I intend to make sensible content. Something that’s entertaining and has a message along with the storyline
Why did you choose DD over satellite channels for your first show?
My production house is open to working with different platforms and channels. Dd National is a national broadcaster with a tremendous reach. I have no reservations when it comes to work. May it be any channel? My goal is clear. The content that goes out of my production house has to be good quality.
Now that you are a producer, are you a different actor, knowing the other side?
Well, my attitude towards work is still the same. I have always been a team player. Whenever I take up a show as an actor, I treat it as my own. I have always been an effortless actor to work with, and this quality will always remain the same.
How is Teri Meri Doriyaan doing?
It is doing well. Angad and Sahiba are going through a rough patch due to many misunderstandings. The audience can expect fireworks between the two amidst this track.
Among all the shows done to date, rate your best?
It isn’t easy to choose one show from the body of work that I have. Still, Udaan will be the closest to my heart as it laid a firm foundation for my career.
