By Anil Merani| Shivangi Khedkar, of Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali Ki fame, has been in the news since she reacted to Instagram trolls telling her how to live her life.
She put up a long IG post on what to do.
“For a long time, I have ignored a few bad apples commenting on my pole dance videos, which they feel I am doing to show my body.”
“The first thing I learned was pole dancing to enhance my performing skills, helping me get better work. If I wanted to show my body, I had other options. Also, my pole dancing sessions are workouts; hence, you will always see me sans makeup. And yes, I will upload them, for I want the world to see my skills,” she added.
“One more thing that irked me was the constant snipping about my relationship with my friends.” I primarily work with male co-stars, and when I post a pic with them, these fans jump to the conclusion that we see each other. And to make matters worse, they started imagining that I had broken up with someone else. I have better things than sleeping around with four or five guys,” says Shivangi, who will next be seen on an OTT project.
I feel bad for my non-industry friends who get dragged into this mess, not knowing how our media operates. “Sadly, no one cares about acting. I remember when I had barely started shooting for Mehndi; the press was more bothered about my equation with co-star Sai Ketan Rao than my performing abilities. I wanted to say year; I hardly know the guy. Please ask these questions six months down the road.”
“Over time, Sai and I have become very close friends. I remember we were down when Mehndi wrapped up, for we had gotten used to the routine,” says Shivangi, who is also open to more TV shows.
“I offered him full help to find a house in Mumbai. You know what is funny? Since Sai is busy with Imlie, we don’t meet much, prompting these trolls to knit a new false story that we have broken up.”
“How can these kids write such negative stuff first thing in the morning? Mostly, I ignore them, thinking they may not have much to do in life, but sometimes I have to put my foot down.”
“You know what took the cake was their attempt to tarnish my name by raking in the name of India’s top Bollywood star, Deepika Padukone,” ended she.
