By Anil Merani| Cute TV actor Zaan Khan is excited about his upcoming Sony TV show, Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai. “I play Naren Ratansi, a wealthy diamond merchant whose on-screen wife, played by Meera Deosthale, demands her dowry back. My character challenges outdated societal values and advocates for social reform, love, family drama, and moral values.”
When asked why he said yes to this project, Zaan said, “When you have a great combination of the writers of Balika Vadhu and Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Raju Joshi and Purnendu Shekhar, and the head of the Producer’s Association, JD Majethia, as the maker, you don’t hesitate to work with them.”
Zaan, who has previously worked on shows like Naamkaran and Hamari Bahu Silk, has a great time with the cast, including Meera, Dharmesh Vyas, Tushar Kawale, and Vishal Vira. “We eat together in a small room with 18-20 members and joke and party together after work.“
Talking about his previous show, Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, on Sony, Zaan said, “I received a lot of appreciation for my work. We also had a good journey rating-wise, being the number-one fiction show on the channel. Although they usually don’t repeat their artists, I’m working hard to prove their trust in me. I hope Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai becomes an even bigger hit than Kyun Utthe. The recent success of Srimad Ramayan is a step in the right direction. Anything is possible in the entertainment world once you create good content.”
When asked if he was disappointed with how Kyun Utthe ended, Zaan said, “As an artist, I don’t think about ratings or longevity. My job is to give my best every day.“
Aside from TV, Zaan is also open to working on big OTT shows on platforms like Netflix, Amazon, and Sony Liv if good makers helm them.
Finally, when asked what he did on Valentine’s Day, Zaan said he spent the day promoting his new show on Indian Idol. “I was working on the 14th of February. What more could a guy ask for?”
Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai premieres on Sony TV on February 19th.
