By Anil Merani: Kinshuk Mahajan is very happy with the way his Colors TV show, Megha Barsenge, has picked up steam. After premiering at just 0.8 TVR (the slot was quite weak), it has doubled to 1.6 in just two months.

“The Georgia track has done very well. The story is also very edgy. Normally, when shows begin low, they don’t rise, but we have, which means that we have a good product.”

“I am sure we will go even higher on the back of good writing, execution, and old-school hard work. Along with the rising TRP, the time spent is also increasing, so we are on the right path.”

Talking about his negative character, Kinshuk says, ” I try to play this difficult character as naturally as possible. Although Manoj rapes and murders, he is not standing erect all the time.  What I really like about him is that he is a very street-smart guy with a great sense of comic timing.” says he

” I don’t add anything extra to my character; I just get the feel of the character and go on.   Also, unlike others, I don’t question the script or the logic of the character’s actions. I am given a role that I enact to the best of my ability. He has done with aplomb for the past several years (Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai, Chand Chupa Badal Mein, Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka and Pandya Store)

“I don’t think too much; I would rather enjoy the process of playing a different genre. I am not sure I will get yet another crack at the same.”

Here, he adds that although he has received some negative feedback, “most audiences write in that they like the way I act. What more can I ask for?”

He is also not fearful of typecasting!” I am sure I will get lead roles as well. For me, getting work is important. Today, times are very dicey; shows don’t run. So several factors, including bank balance, will decide whether I will do more negative roles.”

He has a great equation with Megha Barsenge co-star Neil Bhat: “He is a great human being. We have an unsaid bond which comes out very well on the screen. I am also having a good time with Neha Rana, doing the scenes where I torment her. We all have become friends, and I am sure they will feel the same way about me.”

Kinshuk, who has been around for TV for years, is not fearful that the OTT crest will end the tube. “Both will continue to thrive with separate audiences. At the end of the day, good content will always be watched

And coming to OTT, it will face the same issues that TV faces with an increase in the number of episodes. We are already looking at TV

10O episode OTT series.” ended he
