By Anil Merani| Akash Jagga is enjoying his negative stint with Colors show   Dharampatniii. “Malhar is not your typical negative; instead, he is selfish and does not mean to harm others.

Playing negative for long hours, do you carry the feelings home?

“Sometimes ( i dont like it then), but that does not mean that I turn nasty; Malhar and I are poles apart; I always keep smiling on set as well.”

“Some fans also dont want me to essay negative roles. Recently I bumped into aunty at a park, who scolded me for taking up a black character. I told her I was trying to do something different after being a good boy in my past three shows. “added he

“At first,  Dharampatnii was tough as I had no prep and did not know what to do and how but now I am getting the hang of things”, says he.

Akash says he has worked on his look, making himself look like the cute boy next door (clean-shaved), “I might add a moustache to suit a swag cop.”

Akash has outstanding on-screen bonds with his co-stars Fahmaan Khan and  Kritika Sing Yadav. “Being an introvert, I take time to open up.”

Akash firmly believes in destiny, as the show also propagates that things are beyond our control.” I had never thought I would be on the telly. I dont plan much and leave it to the universe to sculpt my life.”

When asked about the not-so-excellent ratings of  Dharam  Patniii, he says, “Newer concepts(we are not your daily saas bahu story) take time to build traction. Our numbers should perk up over the next few weeks.”

Talking about his previous shows, he says he enjoyed both Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2  and Sasural Simar Ka 2. .” My former debut show was a short stint, while I spent two years in the latter. I stuck on for that long, having great friendships on set; ” He eventually quit Sasural for the current show as his character was not doing much.

“While  Akash is okay with doing web, he has stayed away due to its unnecessarily bold content. “It is okay if the script justifies the scene, but not if added to win the audience. Such an approach needs to be corrected.”
