By Anil Merani: Film and web actor Tanuj Virwani is excited about his new hosting avatar. He is anchoring Splitsvilla X5 along with Sunny Leone.

Tanuj, son of yesteryear’s lead actor Rati Agnihotri, says, ” I am very excited to be part of  SplitsvillaX5, a top-rated reality show since 2008, along with Sunny. I want to know how the viewers will accept me in genres other than films and web series.” Tanuj has done web series like Inside Edge, Code M, and Masaba Masaba.

How did you bring your personality to the fore? ” Well, the makers told me we like your attitude and vibes and want you to be yourself. This is sometimes the most challenging part for actors, as we are used to hiding ourselves behind the character when the camera rolls.”

“It took me a few days, but working with a great team and a past master of  Splitsvilla helped me on my way. Once I found my footing, it became a fun ride. Everything you see, emotions, tears, and anger on the screen is all me.” Tanuj has also done films like Purani Jeans.

What makes a relationship tick? “Trust, understanding, and transparency are the bedrock of any relationship, and it helps if you are best friends with your girlfriend, wife, or partner so you can speak your mind. You enter into a relationship only after accepting the flaws of the other. Today, we are always looking for instant gratification and validation, which is not the best thing to do. Short-term relationships are okay, but if you want to go the whole hog, it is essential to choose the right partner. “says he.

What relationship gyaan you shared with the Gen Z contestants?

“Most of them have just started life. Sunny and I are in a better position to advise them about the red flags and what not to do, given our larger worldview and lousy relationship experience. It is up to them to accept it or not, but it is my responsibility to tell them about it in a show celebrating love, said Tanuj, who is married to Tanya Jacobs. He was earlier rumoured to be in a relationship with Jennifer Winget.

What is your take on a reality show rigging allegation ?” I can guarantee that my season of Splitsville is organic. All the emotions are real and raw. I agree; there is a structure, but all the twists make for an unpredictable ride. The show tests you physically, mentally, and emotionally.”

“I agree that some connections are for the show. But only those that are real, based on love and fondness, tick. The very severe rawness took me back. We have the safety net in fiction, but in Splitsvillax5, we are still determining how the equations will pan out.”

I worked with Sunny much earlier in my 10-year career( One Night Stand); she made me very comfortable even then. Her presence was one of the reasons I said yes here. Given the format, I was tentative at first.

She is very kind-hearted every morning when she comes on set. She makes it a point to speak to the crew, creating a peaceful, harmonious working environment. Other actors can learn a lot from her about work ethics.”

In closing, he talks about his upcoming work. After Yodha, “I have a father-son series with K K. Menon titled Murshid. Then I have an untitled series with Applause, which has Rahul Dev. I am also doing a rom-com titled Puppy Love with Tridha Choudhary and Nikki Tamboli. I am doing different kinds of roles and hope, most stick.”
