By Anil Merani: TV actor Pranitaa Pandit last seen in Kavach has responded to Somy Aly’s recent statement, made earlier this week, in which the latter actress called Aamir Khan’s brother Faisal Khan to be of sound mental health. There has been considerable speculation lately about whether Faisal requires mental wellness treatment.
To clarify, Pranitaa, known for other shows like Kasam and Kali Ek Angipariskha, has not mentioned Somy by name.
Prior to Pranitaa’s response, Faisal had recently addressed a press conference, referencing the same topic while declaring that he was severing all relations with Aamir and his family. He also spoke about Aamir allegedly having an extra-marital affair with a British journalist while married to his first wife Reena
As with Somy’s statement, here is Pranitaa’s response in full to avoid confusion.
Mental health is a serious issue, and denial only makes it worse. Publicly dismissing his condition as “normal” or blaming his family misrepresents the truth. Anyone looking objectively can see he is struggling. He needs empathy, medical care, and support—not misleading stories driven by opinions or resentment.
Now, over to Somy for her response.
P.S.: We agree that mental health is important and requires a holistic approach.
It is sad that our industry does not have a proper institutional mechanism which can intervene in such cases and try to find an in-house workaround rather than letting the media have a field day.
It would also be better if Aamir Khan and family came out of their ivory castles and properly addressed all the issues. Their silence also adds credence to the rumour mills.
