By Anil Merani: I never get the logic behind fake news. Most of the time, they are not based on any fact. Some jealous people with ulterior motives just put out a tweet or Instagram post, and voila, it starts spreading.

I wish to debunk one such nascent rumour that the popular Star Plus Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin show is going off. This can’t be anywhere close to the truth.

Ghum has done well and continues to do well. It is rating above 2, which is a significant achievement in the TV industry. This success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team.

Yes, competition shows (Jhanak and Udne Ki Aasha) on the same channel might have gone ahead for the moment, but that is nothing to worry Ghum will soon again become #2 show on the channel.

From a channel’s perspective, the success of Ghum is a cause for celebration. It means that all their shows are doing well, which is a positive sign for the channel’s reputation and viewership.

Naysayers predicted the fall of Ghum with the leap, but Hitesh Bharadwaj did well. His job is going well.

Such false news is usually spread by fans of shows when previous jodi’s get replaced. I don’t know where current rumours stem from.

I usually would not have reacted to such falsehood, but here, since the Ghum team has worked so hard, I don’t want them to suffer any loss, however small.

Here, Ghum is doing well, but even if a bad rating show goes off the air, it affects the economy of several households (junior actors and unit hands). This is a reminder to be careful before spinning any falsehoods, as they can have serious consequences.
