The Coronavirus pandemic brought our lives to a standstill, and people are still struggling to fight it. And to spread positivity and hope, megastar Amitabh Bachchan had recited a poem titled “Guzar jayega” on his Twitter handle. The poem, penned by Jay Verma, gives you assurance and hope that these trying times will also end.
The poem was made into a music video (written & directed by jay verma) which was released on May 11. It was narrated by Big B and sung by various Indian artists. It featured B’Town celebrities, including Sonu Sood, Raveena Tandon, Kapil Sharma, Pulkit Samrat, Juhi Chawla, Ekta Kapoor, Richa Chadha, to name a few. Bachchan later shared a newer version, where he narrates the first verse of the poem, on the microblogging website and captioned it as, “This too shall pass.”
The poem goes like, “Mushkil bahut hai, magar waqt hi to hai. Guzar jayega, guzar jayega.
Zinda rehne ka ye jo jazba hai, phir ubhar ayega. Guzar jayega, guzar jayega.
Mana maut chehra badal kar aaie hai, mana raat kaali hai, bhayavah hai, gahrai hai,
Log darwaazon pe, raaston pe, ruke baithe hain, kai ghabrai hain, sahme hain, chipe baithe hain,
Magar yakin rakh, ye bas lamha hai, do pal mein bikhar jayega
Zinda rehne ka ye jo jazba hai, phir asar layega, mushkil bahut hai, magar waqt hi to hai. Guzar jayega, guzar jayega.”
Jay says the poem was created to give people hope and push them to be optimistic, especially during these tough COVID times. He feels that the “Legendary” actor’s voice added magic to the poem and gave life to the words. A few days back both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan were tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital. Jay Verma says, (“Mr. Bachchan will win over COVID and will come back home soon.”) Alternative lines ( our beloved Shehenshah can not lose..he will win over covid and come back home soon)
Jay Verma, who is primarily a director/writer, has written poetry since his theatre days and has even written a few songs. Some of his work includes “Boys are best” from “Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne” and “Khayal wich”, “Khata nahin” from “I Proud To Be An Indian”. And the success of “Guzar jayega” has encouraged him to write more songs and poetry. After writing & directing various ad films and television shows, Jay Verma is currently working on two feature films as a writer & director. The projects have got delayed due to the lockdown but will hopefully resume soon.
