If you equalize Sanaya Irani is work to box office collections of a star’s films one can easily say that she has the success rate of hundred percent.
Sanaya is the only actress probably who has never seen a downfall in her entire career. She has seen success like no other contemporary of hers has seen. Her work has managed to sustain the test of time and has stayed relevant over the years.
Sanaya’s first modelling portfolio was shot by photographer turned actor, Boman Irani. She did many TV commercials with Bollywood biggies like Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor before takimg up television.
Sanaya started her career in television with Sab TV’s cult show, ‘Left Right Left’as Cadet Sameera Shroff. Sanaya wasn’t fluent in Hindi language initially and thus the director used to tutor her on the show’s sets.Sanaya’s next project was ‘Radha Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi’ where for the only time in her career played a negative character.
The turning point in Sanaya’s career came with Star One’s youth based drama ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’ where she bagged the leading role. The show interestingly starred her husband, then co-star Mohit Sehgal too. She played the role of a small town girl Gunjan Bhushan. Her portrayal of a shy,timid,underconfident girl garnered praises among youth audiences and she was loved and appreciated by millions for her acting skills and pretty face. Miley Jab Ham Tum stays one of the most iconic shows of all time even till date and Gunjan has become a memorable character since then.
Sanya hosted the reality show, ‘Zara Nach Ke Dikha’ too for a brief period with then boyfriend Mohit Sehgal.
Sanaya’s next stint on Star Plus’s ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ where she played the ever positive, bubbly Khushi Kumari Gupta. Her character and her pairing with Barun Sobti created a frenzy among audiences and it became one of the most popular couples to ever graced Indian Television. The show became a cult and earned a fan following that ceases to disappear even after more than seven years of the show saw its end. Sanaya’s award winner potrayal of Khushi stamped her as one of the most versatile actresses of her time slashing every doubt that her critics might have had seeing her cute face and led Sanaya to her peak stardom.
After the end of ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’, Sanaya appeared and hosted a number of shows on different channels.
She returned with Sony TV’s ‘Chan Chan’ where she played a vivacious and modern girl. The show was loosely based on the movie ‘Khoobsurat’. The show did not see as big a success as her previous shows but she was appreciated throughout.
Sanaya came back with Colors’ ‘Rangrasiya’ as Parvati. She played the role of an orphan girl opposite Ashish Sharma’s border security personnel. The show was critically acclaimed and her pairing with Ashish came through as mature. Sanaya’s experience and maturity as an actress showed in her portrayal of Parvati.
After that, Sanaya participated in shows like Colors TV’s Jhalak Dikhlaja 8 and Nach Baliye 8 with her husband Mohit Sehgal.
Sanya has also done small roles in films like Fanna, Pihu and Dum Maaro Dum.
She also has two web series on her name called ‘Vodka Shots’ and ‘Zindabad.’
Sanaya as of now is away from television citing that the genres working today on TV doesn’t connect to her. As of now, she is awaiting the release of her debut movie ‘Ghost’ in a leading role which is due for 18th of October.
