By Anil Merani| Birthday boy Shabir Ahluwalia is TV Mr dependable. After ruling Kumkum Bhagya for years, he is now making waves with his Pyar Ka Pehla Naam: Radha Mohan performance. All fans love his on-screen equation with Niharika Roy.
Shabir has been around the tube scene for years, starting with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi way back in 2002. He went on to do several other big-ticket K shows such as Kahi To Milenge (2002), Kkavyanjali (2005), Kasamh Se (2006), Kasautii Zindagii Kay as well
Shabir also won Fear Factor season 3 and also hosted Nach Baliye.
Besides TV, he dabbled in films such as Shootout at Lokhandwala and Mission Istanbul.
However, he found his calling as Abhi in Kumkum Bhagya, which he successfully essayed for seven long years. His on-screen equation with Sriti Jhas has entered annals as one of tv top most iconic jodis.
Finally, he and Sriti quit Kumkum last year, passing on the entire baton to Dusri Pidhi. It was a wise step on Shabir’s part as every character does have a shelf life, and the creative had sucked out every ounce of juice from Abhi Praya.
Although Radhe Mohan is winning critical acclaim, it is not a
rating buster as Kumkum Bhagya. Then again, you cant ace every shot.
Unlike other TV actors, Shabir did not wait after Kumkum to create a new image and then make a foray into web and films (second inning)
We guess he is comfortable with tv, and once you are lead, you dont have time for other projects.
Maybe at least host another big ticket reality series which does not consume much bandwidth. His fans are also hoping that one day he returns to Nach Baliye, but this time as a contestant along with wifey Kanchi Kaul.
