By Anil Merani: Armaan Khan, a Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant, has consistently made headlines. This YouTuber started controversy, entering the Jio Cinema show with his two wives, Payal and Kritika.
Well-known TV actor and old Bigg Boss hand Devoleena Bhattacharjee had blasted Bigg Boss for promoting polygamy.
However, Payal later said Armaan’s second marriage with Kritika was illegal since he had not divorced her (Payal). She rubbished speculation that Armaan had converted to Islam to marry twice.
And barely had this noise settled down, Armaan slapped Vishal Pandey for speaking about Kritika in a derogatory manner. He had openly questioned Vishal’s character and conveniently forgot that he had also cheated on Payal.
Now, a bombshell revelation has emerged. Media reports suggest that Armaan is facing serious allegations of child rape charges.
The cops filed the case June 2019 and arrested Armaan in September. To be fair, we have no information about the current status of the case (whether the case is closed, under investigation or sub judice?)
But from a layperson’s perspective, this damning allegation (An accused is innocent until proven guilty) puts Bigg Boss OTT 3 under the spotlight.
Was it right to give national coverage to someone accused of a serious crime? Since the alleged victim is under eighteen, the cops can invoke stringent POSCO charges against Armaan (We again wish we clarify there is no legal clarity)
We are sure the Bigg Boss team must have done due diligence before signing him, so they have to be aware of any legal pitfalls. They would not want the police to land outside the set with an arrest warrant!
So it would be better if Bigg Boss clarified the above FIR matter.
This format has seen other controversial figures like Bunty Chor and Swami Om. BB is not a setting for the gentlemen’s crowd.
Many feminist fans might be upset at the makers for encouraging someone who has been accused of repeatedly rapping a minor.
This news will be a major shot in the arm for Vishal Pandey, who was called names by both Armaan and Payal. Will Armaan now take back those words.
Armaan had acted morally aghast, and Bigg Boss had bent backwards to let Armaan get away with slapping Vishal.
Alert fans will question Bigg Boss and Armaan’s alleged double standards.
Armaan had defended himself, calling it miscommunication as reported by a known publication
Bigg Boss has two alternatives. If the case is closed, then they should make it public and continue as before. However, if the case stands, they should throw Armaan out lest they lose the public sympathy. Again, a person is innocent until proven guilty, but there is something called public sentiment.
Or the makers are confident that all this indignation will soon blow over, and they can continue as before.
Seeing how Vishal’s family reacts to this news would be fun. Also, will Bigg Boss pass on this news to the Baharwala? The next wildcard entry can also break this news to the inmates.
Also what the makers should do about Kritika? as she legally can’t be hauled over the coals for alleged actions by her husband.
Earlier, Vishal Pandey’s friend Bhavin Bhanushali in an interview to a leading publication, had called Armaan a rapist. He had threatened to expose him with full proof.
