Tanya Sharma signals all is not well with Tum Dena Saath Mera Oh Humnava?

Sriti Jha and Shabbir Ahluwalia fans, it’s time to start getting worried. As you must be aware, your favourite Kumkum Bhagya jodi’s come back Star Plus vehicle Tum Dena Saath Mera Oh Humnava (has not set the TRP charts sizzling. ( It opened to 1.2 TVR, now down to 0.9)

Now it appears the channel is worried, and this fear is exposed in Tanya Sharma’s (who plays the negative lead, Aardhya) latest video, where she literally requests fans not to watch the show online but on TV. She clearly uses the word we need TRP.

As per sources, channel honchos have spoken to the PH (Studio LSD) about numbers, and this seems to have set the cat among the pigeons.

We can’t blame the channel given the show’s high costs (Sriti and Shabbir, per day). Additionally, Star Plus is losing a very tight race to Zee TV, which has been dominating top- tier ratings of late. For a long time, Star was the uncrowned king, and this shift underscores the competitive pressure affecting TRP.

Tanya smartly deflects low TRP on digital (OTT, IG fan-generated content) traction alone. Agreed, the latter is a growing revenue stream, yet it is not the game-changer either. I dont think most Gen Zers who watch IG reels and updates were loyal TRP contributors in the first place.

Agreed, they might be boisterous and also stay in touch with the cast courtesy SM, but they never decide a show’s fate.

It would be better if the creative team did some honest soul-searching about what might have gone wrong. You can never afford to second-guess your audiance who can disappear in a New York minute, and you will be left holding the sack.

My view is that the concept of suffering woman (Aparjita) and compassionate understanding man (Rakshit) did not work; the audience may want a more unique treatment. More than the core story, how you present it matters more, for eventually, you only have a limited number of plots that keep getting reused.

Tanya, when spoken to, doubled down, saying that TV TRP suffers because episodes are uploaded online before TV telecast.

We tried to get in touch with the producer (Prateek Sharma), and the channel, but they did not respond until the time of putting this piece to bed.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope Tum Dena Saath Mera Oh Humnava gets back in the reckoning pronto. I also like Tanya’s stuff in the show.
