Episode 49 of The 50, now streaming on JioHotstar and airing on Colors, delivered everything a semi-finale should: high stakes, emotional moments, and a decision nobody saw coming. With 12 players entering the night and only five earning a spot in tomorrow’s finale, the arena game was the most consequential one of the season. The five finalists are Rajat Dalal, Mr Faisu, Kaka, Shiv Thakare, and Krishna Shroff.
12 Players, 4 Teams, 1 Ticket to the Finale Each
The Lion lays it out plainly, from today, your team is the people you’re fighting against. Four teams of three go head to head for the arena game, and only one player from each team will earn a ticket to the finale.
The teams: Yellow — Rajat Dalal, Nehal Chudasama, Urvashi Dholakia.
Blue — Mr Faisu, Archana Gautam, Manisha Rani.
Green — Prince Narula, Krishna Shroff, Shiv Thakare.
Red — Riddhi Dogra, Kaka, Vikrant Singh.
The Game: Clues, Boxing Bags & a Ticket Hidden in the Hay
The arena is divided into four colour-coded sections, each with 25 boxing bags numbered and filled with hay. Somewhere inside one bag in each section is a Thumbs Up and a finale circle plaque. Players are given a clue, climb to the top of the bags, select a numbered flag, come back down, and hit it. Get it right, and you’re a finalist.
Yellow Team — Rajat Dalal, Nehal Chudasama, Urvashi Dholakia (Bags 1–25)
The clue: which article of the Indian Constitution protects your right to life and liberty? The answer is Article 21. Rajat Dalal goes for multiples of 3 and hits the bag 21. He is the first finalist of the season.
Blue Team — Mr Faisu, Archana Gautam, Manisha Rani (Bags 26–50)
The clue: how many vertebrae does the human spine have? The answer is 33. Prince Narula, watching from the sidelines, calls out the number to Faisu. Faisu goes for bag 33 and finds the ticket. He is the second finalist.
Red Team — Riddhi Dogra, Kaka, Vikrant Singh (Bags 51–75)
The clue: how many miles from Earth does space begin? Space starts at 100 kilometres, which converts to 62 miles. Kaka cracks it, goes for bag 62, and punches his ticket to the finale.
Green Team — Prince Narula, Krishna Shroff, Shiv Thakare (Bags 76–100)
The clue: a special number for every Indian cricket fan. Prince Narula doesn’t hesitate — he runs up, grabs the flag with 83 on it, and guesses right on the first try. The house erupts.
Prince’s Decision: The Moment of the Night
After the congratulations die down, Prince Narula gathers everyone and says he has something to say. He is passing his ticket to the finale to Shiv Thakare.
He explains that had Faisu not won his round, the ticket would have gone to him instead, because he believes both Faisu and Shiv are completely deserving. He calls Shiv his brother. He says he has never lost and his only competition has always been himself, and he has won enough. It is time to pass the torch.
Shiv Thakare is overwhelmed. Grateful, but visibly burdened by the weight of what Prince has handed him.
Rajat Dalal is not moved. He says Prince’s entire reputation is built on always winning, and by giving the ticket away, he avoided the risk of that record being broken, dressing up self-preservation as sacrifice.
The Lion, in a gesture of his own, invites Prince Narula to stay in the Mahal one more night and watch the finale as a guest.
The Fifth Finalist: A Decision Made Together
With Rajat Dalal, Faisu, Kaka, and Shiv Thakare confirmed as four of the five finalists, the remaining players go to the unsafe zone. The fifth spot comes down to a vote.
Rajat argues for Manisha Rani. Faisu pushes for Archana. Archana tears up when her name comes up. She then works hard to convince Shiv, reminding him they are friends outside the house but Shiv and Kaka initially vote for Vikrant.
Then the conversation shifts. Shiv and Kaka decide they want a strong woman to represent the girls in the finale and land on Krishna. Faisu and Rajat agree. Krishna is named the fifth and final finalist. She says she is grateful and promises not to disappoint the girls who are watching.
Archana pulls Shiv aside afterwards and holds him accountable. He defends his decision.
