Producer Dipti Kalwani of Sunny Side Up Films is the woman who teamed up with Hum Tum Telefilms to make the much loved show Badho Bahu. She says that the success of the show has made been possible because people have connected with the characters they’ve created. She explains, “The success of the show is largely due to people loving the characters Lucky and Badho. The show touches many issues. It shows a beautiful father-in-law and daughter-in-law bond, it also talks about a mother who feels her son got a raw deal in marriage, it talks about Rana and Pinky’s love story which is different. Then, it’s the journey of an underdog character (Badho) who goes on to become a wrestler in a patriarchal setup. We’ve explored several issues though our characters. Majorly, viewers identify with Badho because she is very endearing and cute.”
The fact that urban audiences can relate to the show is a feather in the cap, considering the backdrop of the show is rural, to which, Dipti says, “Our show is not regressive like other TV shows. It’s normal story telling which is entertaining. “
So, does she have a hand in the vibrant look of the show, which has been much appreciated? Dipti beams and says, “Well, I have done my share of detailing. It is done aesthetically and is quite balanced. Sure, the clothes are bright and vibrant because I like colours around me”
