Exclusive Sourabh Raaj Jain: I like the unpredictability of Dhananand

Sourabh Raaj Jain needs no introduction in TV world. He is Krishna, Mahadev and now Dhananand in Chandragupta Maurya on SET TV. He is calm and full of tricks when he essays role if Krishna, he portrays Shiva, the angry GOD of death who performs Tandav with his third eye open. Now he is heartless brutal Dhananand in Chandragupta Maurya. Before these roles Sourabh has played many roles but these always stand out.

Just ShowBiz talked to him about his journey from God to walking devil and some more.

Excerpts:

How is that transformation happened from God to Villain of all times?

Any actor look out for kind of roles which is more challenging and different. I always want to do something different from what I did in past. That was the reason after Krishna if anything came similar, I didn’t take up. I agreed for Mahadev because it is different from Krishna’s character and now Dhananand which is out and out a negative and totally opposite from God or Divine characters.

Its very difficult to express brutal characters like Dhananand. How did you manage?

I would give that credit to my writers. They write so well and the directors who direct me to perform the way I do. Also it’s very important to feel the character and being in that moment which I do with all the characters that I have done. Now I am doing same with Dhananand as well.

Your fans has seen you either in mythological or historical shows. When can we hope to see you in modern avatars?

If the producers and creators give me a normal show with an intriguing character in which I can try my hand and if it interests me, I would definitely opt.

What things you like in Dhananand?

I like the unpredictability of Dhananand because he never gets boring.

Webseries are trend now, are you interested in doing one?

I do not have time as of now because most of the time goes to Chandragupta Maurya. Also, nothing very exciting has been offered yet.

Do you think you are being stereotyped because of doing similar kind of shows from long time?

I can’t say of that because I started my career with a youth based show Remix. Then I did Parichay and Uttaran. Later, I did various shows. So I don’t see that case where people don’t see me in modern avatar. But I agree that I need to something different again to be able to let people know that I could do something else.

What do you want to say to your fans?

I would thank them from the bottom of my heart for appreciating my work and accepting me in different roles over and again. I wish I continue to entertain them with various characters that I get in future as well.
