Bigg Boss season 19 has only just begun, and already controversies are heating up inside the house. Among the contestants, Tanya Mittal has quickly grabbed attention — not just for her presence, but for her outspoken and, as many call it, “regressive” views.
In the very first eviction discussion, inmates voted out social activist Farhana Bhat for leaving the least impressive first impression. Tanya, however, was quick to show empathy towards Farhana and bonded with her post-eviction. But it wasn’t this compassion that went viral — it was her controversial conversation with fellow contestant Pranit More
During their chat, Tanya took a clear dig at actress Ashnoor Kaur, questioning the compromises women make to sustain themselves in the entertainment industry. She remarked that while women face immense challenges, many still “wear short clothes and do certain things” to attract audiences. Her statement, which seemed like a subtle target at Ashnoor, triggered backlash both inside and outside the house.
Pranit, known for his wit, called out Tanya’s “regressive” mindset, but Tanya remained firm in her opinion. Social media instantly caught fire, with fans of Ashnoor and others accusing Tanya of shaming women and disregarding the hard work that goes into building a career in a highly competitive industry.
Tanya, however, insists she’s simply speaking her truth. In another conversation, she explained her perspective on entering the entertainment industry:
“You have to do a lot of things. Suppose you’re an actress — you have to perform all sorts of scenes, you have to wear all kinds of clothes. For me, without versatility, it would be very difficult.
You could say that I’ve achieved something by doing everything — by not limiting myself to what I wear or what I do. Usually, you’ll notice that girls keep changing themselves at that stage.
If there’s a movie audition, then you dress according to it. Suppose you’re wearing a suit at that time — sometimes I feel like, is it wrong? But no, I don’t think it’s wrong. In fact, I think it’s an achievement for me that I did it.”
Her confidence and pride in reaching the Bigg Boss stage are undeniable, but the question remains: will her rigid views and outspoken criticism of Ashnoor Kaur become a hurdle in her game?
Bigg Boss is as much about strategy as it is about popularity, and targeting a beloved contestant like Ashnoor could backfire heavily. Fans outside the house play a major role in deciding who stays and who goes, and Tanya’s words have already caused friction with audiences.
As the weeks unfold, viewers will see whether Tanya adapts her mindset to the dynamics of the game or whether her strong opinions will lead to clashes, isolations, and possibly an early exit. One thing is certain — the Tanya Mittal vs. Ashnoor Kaur showdown is set to be one of the most talked-about rivalries of Bigg Boss 19.
