Lord Krishna is an inspiration for many shows starting B. R. Chopra’s magnum opus Mahabharat to Siddharth Tewary extravaganza Mahabharat to his lovable Krishna in Star Bharat’s RadhaKrishna. Every Krishna has made viewers glued to their screen. For some, they are Lord while for others an interesting characters. Let’s check how the Krishna’s character impacted viewers of that era.

Nitish Bhardwaj in B. R. Chopra’s Mahabharat:

The credit of first Mahabharat ever on Indian Television goes to B.R. Chopra, a renowned producer of that time. His son directed the show in 1988 and was the first show with such huge star cast.  The key role of Krishna was played by Nitish Bhardwaj who was another name for perfection to play Lord. His facial expression was very calm and poised. At that time, Nitish was synonymous to Lord himself  from some viewers point of view. He was playing Krishna so artfully that viewers believed, this is the way the things might have happened in that century. They have limitations technically, however, still it worked because viewers had never been to such experience on TV.

Mahabharat was again almost 2 decades later by Siddharth Kumar Tewary. Technical advancement do give them an upper hand but it was tough to compete with legendary B. R. Chopra’s Mahabharat. The show has Sourabh Raaj Jain as Krishna. His immaculate expressions and voice modulations gathered him huge fan following across continents. Nonetheless, they still call him Madhav despite of him being given a portrayal of historical villainous character. Sourabh’s preaching at the end of every episode garnered lot of appreciation.  Above all, Sourabh was beyond definition of perfection as Krishna.

Sumedh Mudgalkar in Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Radha Krishna:

Sumedh Mudgalkar is today’s Krishna in Siddharth Kumar Teway’s ongoing show Radha Krishna. However, this show is not about battle but love. The limitless love between deity Radha and Krishna makes the base of this show. This Krishna has to be a lover boy and there is no one better except Sumedh Mudgalkar. The antics of a teenager Krishna, his undying love for Radha, his emotions for not getting her in this mortal life and his agony for Radha forgetting his and her real whereabouts, Sumedh made it seem so effortless, it seems for viewers that they are living it. Furthermore, Sumedh is exemplary even in preaching which in ciurrent times has become a necessity for all shows based on Krishna.
