By Gossips TV : Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has reached a historic and rare milestone – 5000 episodes. While this achievement should have been a moment of pure celebration for one of Indian television’s longest-running and most influential shows, the newly released 5000-episode special montage has triggered a storm of controversy instead of applause.
In the montage unveiled by the channel, actress Pranali Rathod is seen standing alone – and what’s missing has sent shockwaves across the fandom. Harshad Chopda, one of the most pivotal leads of the third generation and a major driving force behind YRKKH’s massive popularity between 2021–2023, has been completely excluded from the celebratory artwork.
This omission has ignited a wave of anger, disbelief, and speculation online. Harshad’s fanbase, one of the strongest in recent TV history, has flooded social media with furious reactions, calling the exclusion “intentional,” “disrespectful,” and “a blatant attempt to erase a whole era.” Many also pointed out that Jay Soni, another crucial performer of the third generation, is missing too.
The controversy gains intensity because Harshad’s exit from the show was surrounded by rumours of strained equations between him and the production house. While nothing was ever confirmed officially, the abrupt wrap-up of the third generation storyline and reports of behind-the-scenes tension never fully died down.
Now, with the 5000-episode montage snubbing Harshad entirely, fans cannot help but revisit the old speculations. Are things still unresolved? Is this why Harshad has been deliberately kept out?
One thing is certain: instead of celebrating a milestone, Star Plus has walked straight into a firestorm – and the debate is far from over.
