By Anil Merani: Shagun Sharma, who plays the lead in the Star Plus show Yeh Hai Chahatein, isn’t bothered by recent reports suggesting that the Balaji Telefilms show is under scrutiny.
“To be honest, we actors are always the last to know about such stuff. I don’t bother about the ratings; I prefer to focus on my work. If it does happen, I will naturally be disappointed and hurt.”
“I’ve heard such off-air rumors since my entry in May last year. I was a bit anxious then as I had just joined. I will press the panic button only if the production house or the channel informs me. added Shagun who has done other TV shows like Ishk Par Zor Nahi and ,Sasural Genda Phool 2 etc
Shagan and Pravisht Mishra had replaced Sargun Kaur Luthra and Abrar Qazi last year in Yeh Hai Chahatein.
Looking ahead, like many TV actors, Shagun also dreams of the big screen and OTT platforms; however, she doesn’t want to take on bold roles.
“If and when such an offer comes, I will sit down with my parents to decide the limits, as I need their blessing. Right now, I am uncomfortable. But I am slowly mentally preparing myself for it. When I started on TV, I wasn’t even ready to hold hands, hug, or peck on the cheek.” says she.
Shifting gears to the non-fiction genre, Shagun says she would love to try her hands at a comic show, but admits she bursts into laughter whenever she says something funny.
Shagun isn’t ready to join Bigg Boss. “The show’s makers edit the content in a way that even if you snap for a few minutes in the day, they will only show that. Plus, I am not ready to indulge in conversations that demean my parents, because co-contestants often do that. The format is also such that you can’t quit, so you must stay with them as long as you last. Your opponents will keep poking at your sore points, and being an aggressive person, I will fight fire with fire; hence, no.”
“Also, I am not Bigg Boss material because I don’t lose my temper quickly, having studied in a boarding school for 12 years. Bigg Boss is for those who do not mind being completely exposed. On the other hand, I want to be known only for my work. My private life is not for public consumption.ended she.
