By Anil Merani| The social media craze can make people go overboard. However, if anyone displays unprofessional behaviour, they risk losing their job. Something similar happened to Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actors Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe.
Despite being relatively new to the industry, both actors had a false sense of self-worth and were encouraged by the love and admiration of their YRKKH fans.
After getting ticked off by an AD, they wanted the concerned unit guy fired. They stopped shooting for the same reason. It’s commendable that YRKKH maker Rajan Shahi stood his ground and refused to give in to their blackmail. He not only fired them but also issued a press note detailing the same, putting them under the dock.
Now, the actors must try to regain public sympathy. They could give an interview to a sympathetic outlet that won’t ask difficult questions. However, they may have to sit at home until the situation dies.
Other producers or channels may hesitate to work with them due to their behaviour. Shows are already working under tense deadlines, and who wants more mess? Some may still hire them, but they may have to settle for lower pay and unfavourable working conditions. The moral of the story is that throwing tantrums can have serious consequences.
PS: Pratiksha will suffer more as she is more of an unknown commodity than the show lead, Shehzada.
Being in a relationship with the latter encouraged her to box above her weight. We will not be surprised if both call it a day.
