By Anil Merani| Yesterday Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah episode had a significant blunder. The current story sees Bhide(Mandar Chandwadkar) playing old film songs on his Sargam Orachestar player.

The beginning of last night’s episode saw Bhide play the famous 1963 song Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon which talks about the sacrifices of the brave Indian jawans in the icy heights of Ladakh and NEFA(now Arunachal Pradesh) in the 1962 war with China
All the cast become teary-eyed in the remembrance of the fallen soldier

Interestingly after the song, Champak chacha( Amit Bhatt) describes it as an ode to the 1965 Indo-Pak war. The mistake became evident when he further went to mention India’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru, who died in May 1964
The second Indo-Pak war began in March 1965 with skirmishes in Kutch. ( Gujarat). Lal Bahadur Shastri was at the helm of affairs then.

India’s nightingale, the late Lata Mangeshkar, first sang the above evergreen classic at the 1963 Republic Day ceremony, two months after the war ended, with the Chinese pulling back unilaterally.

Amit himself was unaware of history. Else he would have corrected the creative team who made this mistake.

It would have been better had producer Asit Modi taken due care to filter out such mistakes, which can hurt sentiments.

When we spoke to Amit, he replied with a no comment, our attempt to reach Asit came to nought.
